Week One – Familiar Routines

Familiar Routines and Habits

Familiar routines seem to be the basis for many successful people in business. Tom Corley, in his book titled “Change Your Habits, Change Your Life” says, “Most self-made millionaires don’t end up rich accidentally, Corley’s research finds. They make plans. His studies found that eighty percent of the wealthy are “obsessed with pursuing goals,” he writes. They refer to both daily and long-term goals regularly.

Og Mandino in his book The Greatest Salesman in the World admonishes us to replace our bad habits with good as that is the only pathway to success. Further, Charles F. Haanel in the Master Key System states in paragraph 2 of Part 1, “Mind is creative, and conditions, environment and all experiences in life are the result of our habitual or predominant mental attitude.”

It really is simple, thoughts become the things we think about inhabit both our mind, and the subconscious helps them materialize into our world. Henry Ford thought during his every waking and sleeping hour on his first car, how it was to be made and what problems he had to overcome to Familiar Routines - Elon Musk - SpaceXachieve his goal of bringing an inexpensive vehicle to the masses. Elon Musk via his companies Tesla and SpaceX is totally obsessed with, and generating products that push the edge of technology with each coming day.

So, we have contemporary evidence that Thinkers are Creators. Just as was posted on this blog earlier, Warren Buffett adheres to his familiar routines of reading, sitting and thinking to generate his ideas to advance his investments and accomplishments.

So, when you start thinking that Napoleon Hill, Emerson. Mandino or Haanel are a bit fruity, just look at what Steve Jobs, Warren Buffett or Elon Musk are doing today and silence your subby’s disbelief! The Secret is no secret, there are just many disbelievers who fail to put forth the hard mental effort to develop good daily Routines or “Habits” to replace their bad ones and thus move nearer to their goals while avoiding the habit of failure.

Week 23 – I Can’t Get No Permanent Satisfaction

I Can't Get No Satisfaction - The Rolling Stones

Haanel spoke in Part 23 – 22 about “Permanent Satisfaction” and it struck me as a culmination of many of the readings we’ve been asked to study over the many weeks in the Master Key System course. Let me quote the full sentence I am speaking of…

“Now concentrate on the fact that man is not a body with a spirit, but a spirit with a body, and that it is for this reason that his desires are incapable of any permanent satisfaction in anything not spiritual.” Wow, explains a lot doesn’t it about job satisfaction, relationship not based on ideals and money matters of all kinds. We chase after elusive concepts of money, reward and satisfaction but, how many of us continually miss the mark? If we do occasionally hit the bulls-eye, the positive energy often quickly dissipates and we go in search of new “greener pastures like a dandelion blown away in the wind. Our hearts tell us this is not as it should be.

That being said, the largest portion of the human race a buffeted like driftwood in the sea, never knowing what shore we will come to light on at sunrise. Our Scroll VI exercises are helping us become Masters of our Emotions, thus bringing some stability but, there just must be more than just defensive plays in our book.

Again, Haanel speaks to this in several paragraphs in Part 23. First, 23 – 4; “The forces of life are volatile; they are composed of our thoughts and ideals and these turn into form; our problem is to keep an open mind, to reach out constantly for the new, to recognize opportunity, to be interested in the race rather than the goal, for the pleasure is in the pursuit rather than the possession.”

So, let’s summarize a bit; a) we are spirit in body seeking the spiritual knowledge b) satisfaction for a spirit only comes from spiritual experiences c) the lasting joys in life are in the journeys not in the destination or possessions. In my mind, “Permanent Satisfaction” dissipates upon arrival in state where we stop learning and growing or experiencing our Bliss as Joe would say. I know I am still a bit convoluted in my thinking but, here me out on this one.

I spent much of the week parting these thoughts together with the last Haanel exercise wherein we were to “Speak to Him, thou, for He hears, and spirit with spirit can meet, Closer is He that breathing, and nearer than hands and feet.” ~ Lord Alfred Tennyson The last two weeks have brought a crescendo of thoughts and memories of a time when I used to walk and talk (almost in constant prayer) while preparing to be a missionary in my younger days. Thankful for all that happened (good or bad), blessing those I met silently, and experiencing amazing answers to the simplest and most mundane of request. Upon arrival to my appointed missionary assignment, much of that was lost. As Haanel said, I reach my goal and the satisfaction faded.

My point (I think) is that to regret the past or to plan the future is not where the value lies, it is the here and now, the present. If we are not present, in the race, thrilled with the pursuit, grateful for the fight to become what we long to become such that we can serve others in compliance with the law of compensation, it is all for naught! Spend just one hour focused completely on the present.

Being a project manager, it is my job to go through a thousand permutations and plan for many contingencies in direct opposition to Haanel. I am excited that this has opened an experiment of epic proportions for me. I will be adding another card to my 3X daily reads and one for my pocket to remind me always to apply thought and concentration to the race, the pursuit for it is there that I will find Satisfaction. Unlike the Rolling Stones and Mick Jagger, I’ll pursuing things of a more spiritual nature and therefore, Satisfaction will be my reward.

Alfred Tennyson, 1809-1892

“The Higher Pantheism”
from The Holy Grail and Other Poems (London: Strahan, 1870).

THE sun, the moons, the stars, the seas, the hills and
       the plains--
Are not these, O Soul, the Vision of Him who reigns?

Is not the Vision He? tho' He be not that which He
Dreams are true while they last, and do we not live in

Earth, these solid stars, this weight of body and limb,
Are they not sign and symbol of thy division from

Dark is the world to thee: thyself art the reason
For is He not all but thou, that hast power to feel
       'I am I?'

Glory about thee, without thee; and thou fulfillest
       thy doom,
Making Him broken gleams, and a stifled splendour
       and gloom. 10

Speak to Him thou for He hears, and Spirit with
       Spirit can meet--
Closer is He than breathing, and nearer than hands
       and feet.

God is law, say the wise; O Soul, and let us rejoice,
For if He thunder by law the thunder is yet His voice.

 Law is God, say some: no God at all, says the fool;
For all we have power to see is a straight staff bent in
       a pool;

And the ear of man cannot hear, and the eye of man
       cannot see;
But if we could see and hear, this Vision--were it not

Week 22 – Emotions That Set The Tone

Chakra Emotional Guidance Scale

Have you ever gotten up, first thing in the morning and felt a surge of emotions that set the tone for your whole day? It seems they come from nowhere and leave debris and the potential for failure in accomplishing anything of value for that day which once held so much hope for improvement and accomplishment.

We’ve all had them; you are not alone. This past week, I had one of those days and it went from just a glum day to worse. The next day was a the day we switched from reading Og Mandino’s Scroll V to Scroll VI. I saw the phrase “Today I Will Be Master of My Emotions” and burst out laughing had just the prior day been such an obvious hint from one smarter than I.

The lessons did not stop there. Several times this week, business (in particular) delivered me opportunity to observe and reflect on how my emotions set the tone for my interactions and reactions throughout the day to situations for which I had no control. The only control I had was in my response. I am happy to say, after the slap and the training from Mandino, I’ve been quite even-keeled this week and am grateful beyond measure for the tools shared in this Scroll VI.

For example, Og Mandino points out there are two sets of emotions that can set the table for outburst or just poor performance in the day and worse, set a trend that takes far more effort to reverse. These two types of performance-degrading emotions are those that sap our energy (negative emotions) and those wherein we let our Ego diminish our ability to clearly observe and control our responses.

Christie Marie Sheldon discusses how in her energy healing practice, she has developed a mapping of what she calls “Love or Above” scale that helps her, and her clients define their emotions and the vibrational influences they are experiencing. Click here to listen to her description of what she observed. Please note that this week we started on Charles F Haanel’s Part 22 in which he shares the health impacts of vibration. The gist of what he said is vibration is the cause of all states of matter including the human state of health or lack of health called disease. If you speak to any scientist, especially a scientist studying Quantum Physics (Check out the movie “What the Bleep Do We Know-Down the Rabbit Hole“), he or she will emphatically agree that vibration and energy (reflected or observed as vibration) is the cause of anything we can observe, quantify and measure; it is reality. This is why this is so important to understand and maintain control of our vibrational state, i.e. our moods and it effects our outcomes and can change what we manifest in our lives. Here is the chart Christine uses to educate clients about moods, vibration and their emotional states.

Scale Of ConsciousnessChristie Marie Sheldon points out that expanding and being the proper environment in which abundance and expand is at the vibration of 500 +, therefore, Love or Above.

Another form of this chart is below and maps to the chakras; the energy centers of the body from eastern schools of medicine. Please note that colors, as in the rainbow and the chakras, are all the wave form of vibration and energy states. Gas Chromatography, for example, aids scientist in determining what atomic elements are found on distant planets and in chemicals which they may want to use in drugs to helps someone heal. It can also be used in a lab to determine certain diseases or have foreign substances in your body that may be causing disease. All this from vibration, color and energy observed.

You have this power as well. They are your emotions and if you, like a scientist, non-judgmentally observe and map the ebb and flow of your states, you can be Master of Your Emotions and your outer world, i.e. matter.

Use a sit and think on the ramifications of the second class of emotions Mandino speaks of, those I have classified as the Ego-based emotions. In my opinion, they are self-deceptions that subby uses to keep us in the comfort zone. Another name for the comfort zone is the “Zone of No Growth”, the “Status Quo”. That which is not growing or maturing, is dying and decays.

One thing that has stuck with me over the past week has been the quote which I believe I heard on one of our mastermind calls that said, “The meaning of life is to find your gifts, the purpose in life is to give them away.” I’ll pose the question and let you contemplate in silence… If you are in an emotional state that is contracting, have you anything of value to give to others? Does this not make it our responsibility to control our emotions and thus rise to Love or Above and be generous in blessing others with our gifts?

Peace be Your Journey ūüôā

Excerpt From Og Mandino’s Scroll VI:

(My Categorization: Energy Sapping Emotions)

Each day I will follow this plan of battle….

If I feel depressed I will sing
If I feel sad I will laugh
If I feel ill I will double my labor
If I feel fear I will plunge ahead
If I feel inferior I will wear new garments
If I feel uncertain I will raise my voice
If I feel poverty I will think of wealth to come
If I feel incompetent I will remember past success
If I feel insignificant I will remember my goals

Today I will be master of my emotions.

(My Categorization: Ego Related Emotions)

If I become overconfident I will recall my failures
If I overindulge I will think of past hungers
If I feel complacency I will remember my competition
If I enjoy moments of greatness I will remember moments of shame
If I feel all-powerful I will try to stop the wind
If I attain great wealth I will remember one unfed mouth
If I become overly proud I will remember of moment of weaknesses
If I feel my skill is unmatched I will look at the stars

Today I will be master of my emotions.

Week 21 – “Don’t Look Back” – Boston

Don't Look Back - Boston

Boston, had a hit back on 1978 titled “Don’t Look Back”. As I’ve been reading Haanel 21.18 in relation to breaking old bad habits wrote, “the same rule applies in breaking any and all bad habits; we stop doing a thing, and then avoid doing it again, and again until we are entirely free from it; and if we do fail now and then, we should by no means lose hope, for the law is absolute and invincible and gives us credit for every effort and every success, event though our efforts and successes are perhaps intermittent.”

Wow, I have an account with the Universe that awards me credit and for that reason, I now can more freely “live this day as if it is my last” and ” waste not a moment mourning yesterday’s misfortunes, yesterday’s defeats, yesterday’s aches of the heart, for why should I through good after bad” as Og Mandino admonishes in the open of the Scroll V. I “Don’t Look Back”!

I underlined this in green as I read Haanel 21 this week and have gone back to it several times. Several business issues have arisen which, in past, may have derailed my mood and temperament (my Ego). But, with this and one new card in my various stacks to remind me of that to which I am eternally grateful for all truth and energy to accomplish by following my compass and not a clock.

By inverting the sentence in our weekly exercise in the Master Keys 21.28 I can find and confirm the truth in this account receivable relating to my efforts to modify my habits. Let me frame it for you; originally, the text reads “For your next exercise, concentrate on Truth. Try to realize that Truth shall make you free, that is, nothing can permanently stand in the way of your perfect success when you learn to apply the scientifically correct thought methods and principles.” My version to test Haanel 21.18 goes something like this, “To test a thought method, tool or principle to determine if it is Truth, apply it’s precepts and actions and sense the degree of freedom you feel; by following it’s path are you progressing nearer to your ultimate success? Is it motivating, does it make you happy, does it make you more kind to others or yourself?”

I kept 21.18 in my mind this week and the freedom and release from stress, fear and self condemnation is gone. I get strange impish grins coming over me just for no reason at all. Like right now, as I write this, I feel as though I am being hugged by a caring mentor or parent; it instills confidence to pursue achieving the tasks leading to fulfilling my DMP and the legacy to benefit others long after I move on. Now that I don’t look back, I explore¬†further and confirm that needing to anticipate and be consumed with dread for tomorrow is a supreme waste of time and effort.

One more tool I added this week to my kit was a card that said “Thank You” and which I have in all my card stacks. I remembered a past when my connection to my maker was far stronger than present and recollected that whenever I observed a smile, a compliment, a courageous action by another, I thanked the one from whom all strength comes. What an enhanced feeling of connection this has brought this week! Thank You!!

“When the individual mind touches the Universal Mind it receives all the power it requires. This us the world within. All science recognizes the reality of this world, and all power is contingent upon our recognition of this world.”

“Don’t Look Back” by Boston

Don’t look back
A new day is breakin’
It’s been too long since I felt this way
I don’t mind where I get taken
The road is callin’
Today is the day

I can see
It took so long just to realize
I’m much too strong
Not to compromise
Now I see what I am is holding me down
I’ll turn it around

I finally see the dawn arrivin’
I see beyond the road I’m drivin’
Far away and left behind

It’s a new horizon and I’m awakin’ now
Oh I see myself in a brand new way
The sun is shinin’
The clouds are breakin’
‘Cause I can’t lose now, there’s no game to play

I can tell
There’s no more time left to criticize
I’ve seen what I could not recognize
Everything in my life was leading me on
But I can be strong

I finally see the dawn arrivin’
I see beyond the road I’m drivin’
Far away and left behind

Week 20 – You Wake Up Suddenly and You’re In Life

Suddenly - Billy Ocean

I was listening to some really beautiful music and suddenly I saw a new perspective to the lyrics. Given what we have been learning with the Master Key System, suddenly I see that the love I would be singing of would be my renewed love of life. New warmth, kindnesses and observations that make all I see new. It’s just like the first crush; life can be a new experience if, like my master mind friend Robert Rea [Week 19 ‚Äď So many things Touch ME] urges all he meets to maintain focus on only the moment we are in.

Robert has been able to not only adopt but, more so infuse his entire being with the teaching of Haanel and Og Mandino to the point that people sense his power whenever he is near. Is not this the light shining on a hill that the carpenter from Galilee spoke of. There are many in our midst to emulate, teachers to learn from and brothers and sisters who are on the same “dynamic flow of giving and receiving” we’ve all been yearning for.

Reflect again back to the lyrics and rhythm of Billy Ocean’s song and find the emotions he’s sharing, replace the word love with “Love of Life” where it fits and find your own meaning. The woman he’s courting is the newly revealed golden Buddha, it’s the real you. It’s our future friend from our Thursday night dates.

Now I’m really going to stretch you. Think of the 99.99% nothingness within the atoms that make up all matter, including your body and mine. Haanel tells us that matter is not the ideal MIND is the ideal and is the cause for every effect. As that is the case, then the positive side of all contrasts are the positive polarity we are seeking.

If we are to give more to get more then,¬†to give it to whom? With Emerson’s Law of Compensation, who are we really giving to or taking from if we are in our negative aspect? This yet unnamed love is ourselves via the universal. Now, go through these lyrics again and see if your perspective as the observer has changed, it did for me. Forgiveness had logic not surrender and loss of ego, life had power multiplied like taffy folder over and over on itself to the perfect texture and like this song, waves on the shore I feel a perfect, rhythmic ebb and flow to every effect I create with my mind; the one and only Cause.

Thank goodness I’ve woken up, Suddenly!

Billy Ocean – Suddenly (2009)

I used to think that love was just a fairy tale
Until that first hello, until that first smile
But if I had to do it all again
I wouldn’t change a thing ’cause this love is everlasting

Life has new meaning to me
There’s beauty up above and things we never take notice of
You wake up and suddenly you’re in love

Girl, you’re everything a man could want and more
One thousand words are not enough to say what I feel inside
Holding hands as we walk along the shore
Never felt like this before now, you’re all I’m living for

Life has new meaning to me
There’s beauty up above and things we never take notice of
You wake up and suddenly you’re in love

Each day
I pray
This love affair would last forever
Ooh, hoo

Life has new meaning to me
There’s beauty up above and things we never take notice of
You wake up, suddenly you’re in love

There’s beauty up above and things you never take notice of
You wake and suddenly you’re in love

Week 19 – Procrastination I Destroy With Action

I Am The Captain Of My Soul - Procrastination

In Og Manino’s Scroll V he says, “Procrastination I destroy with action. Doubt I bury under faith. Fear I dismember with confidence. Where there are idle mouths I listen not. Where there are idle hands I linger not. Where there are idle bodies I visit not. Henceforth I know that to court idleness is to steal food clothing and warmth from those I love; I am not a thief. I am a man of love and today is my last chance to prove my love and my greatness.” He emphasizes this and each phrase in this scroll with the statement, “I live this day as if it is my last.”

If each of us were to live every day this way, how much easier it would be a recognize and claim our hero’s journey. So, what stands in our way of recognizing and taking that leap of faith? I put to you that it is to become self-less or ego-less. Not that I did not understand it when we were taught about being kind and about the 7 Day Mental diet, rather I did not see it’s integration and dependency created into all that we are, do and have (or have not).

Procrastination is an effect and not a cause and as Haanel repeated refers back to our “Ideal” and the principles and their opposites, I see more clearly the need to create my own internal, law of substitution arsenal to defend my young and immature selfless self. If I don’t defend him, the old blueprint (the dragon) will surely cause him to cower in fear and self-doubt and shrink backing away for the precipice from which I must launch my leap into my hero’s journey.

So, my actions (the actions of a thinking man) are as follows:

  1. I added an additional card to my daily Blueprint Builder reading which contains the following:
    • Today I begin a new life
    • I greet this day with love in my heart
    • I am natures greatest miracle
    • I live this day as if it is my last…
    • I will add each new scroll’s key phrase as I progress through Mandino’s workbook
  2. I added the following cards to the top of my Gratitude deck
    • What would the wealthy, productive me do in this moment? (for when I stall and become indecisive thus giving me ammunition against the attack of procrastination)
    • What mental image or though generates makes me feel energetic and motivated to “Do It Now”?
    • What mental image or though generates makes me feel Brave, Confident and Committed to “Do It Now”?
  3. I also started a journal to capture the answers to the questions in #2 such that I can begin to create response cards to invoke the antidote to procrastination which is ACTION! I’ve merged this with my Reliving a moment each day activities and will build my armory such that no assault of the mundane or onslaught of the information overload so prevalent in our society today will be able to overcome me. Rather, “I fail not as the others, for in my hands I now hold the charts which guide me through perilous water to shore which only yesterday seemed but a dream…” “I persist and develop my skills as the mariner develops his, by learning to ride out the wrath of each storm. I persist until I succeed.”

These tools I now craft to add to my sextant and compass to ensure I follow these charts laid before me to the lands and life of my own minds eye; for I am the captain of my soul…

by the English poet William Ernest Henley (1849‚Äď1903)

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Week 15 – I Am Nature’s Greatest Miracle, Our Greatest Fear

Our Deepest Fear

“I Am Nature’s Greatest Miracle”

Og Mandino starts in Scroll number four with this declaration. Yeah, right! you hear your subconscious mind say with a degree of cynicism reserved for political promises. But, you ask why? Why is it that we completely blow off the possibility that we are as Og has us read aloud, “I have unlimited potential. Only a small portion of my brain do I employ; only a paltry amount of my muscles do I flex.” It seems so strange to apply it to ourselves, thus there is an immediate push back from deep within.

Marianne Williamson’s poem titled, “Our Greatest Fear” tells us why subby is so afraid. It’s because his/her programming has made a comfort zone outside of which is the unknown. The Unknown is a threat to subby, the little reptilian guy in your head.

Marianne goes on a pushes the button harder…

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world.
There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other¬†people won’t feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear, Our presence automatically liberates others.

¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† Our Greatest Fear ‚ÄĒMarianne Williamson

Now Og, presses further…

“But my skills, my mind, my heart, and my body will stagnate, rot, and die lest I put them to good use. I have unlimited potential. Only a small portion of my brain do I employ; only a paltry amount of muscles do I flex. A hundredfold or more can I increase my accomplishments of yesterday and this I will do, beginning today.

Guess what, She and Og are both absolutely right! It turns out we rarely use the full measure of what we are capable of…

Here are several excerpts from and article titled “A Navy SEAL’s Secret for Pushing Yourself Way Beyond Your (Supposed) Limits” which was posted in Inc.com:

“Fact: 99 percent of people who start marathons finish them.

What are we to make of this incredibly high success rate? As anyone who has ever run a marathon can tell you, the correct takeaway isn’t that running 26 miles is a breeze. Everyone hits a wall of pain at some point, yet almost everyone keeps going.

Instead, the real lesson, according to entrepreneur and endurance athlete Jesse Itzler, “is that we have so much more in our reserve tank than we think we do.”

It seems Jesse got this great idea to invite a Navy Seal to his home to live with he and his family and team them some of the mental toughness that all Navy Seals have been trained for. Somehow they are able to summon strength and persistence that seem superhuman to the rest of us.

The Navy Seal taught them the “The 40 percent rule” that he had been trained to understand and leverage to accomplish amazing physical and mental endurance tests and tasks. Below is a portion of the article.

“It’s all well and good to tell people they are capable of accomplishing way more than they believe they are, but when the going gets tough, vague reassurances probably aren’t going to count for much. That’s why Itzler’s unusual houseguest offered something more specific than empty encouragement. He taught Itzler the Navy SEALs’ “40 percent rule.” (Spoiler alert: He also made him do a lot of pull-ups to illustrate it.)

“He would say that when your mind is telling you you’re done, you’re really only 40 percent done,” Itzler explains. “And he had a motto: If it doesn’t suck, we don’t do it. And that was his way of every day forcing us to get uncomfortable to figure out what our baseline was and what our comfort level was and just turning it upside down.”

It turns out that the 40 percent rule is why so many people are able to finish marathons. When you hit that wall, you’re really only 40 percent through your stores of energy and determination. When your body complains, your will still has a lot to give. And as the success rate of runners makes clear, that’s true of just about everyone.

That’s handy to know if you suddenly feel like your legs are going to fall off at mile 18 of a marathon, but it’s a truth that can have a huge impact even if long-distance running really isn’t your thing. Whenever life puts a challenge in your path and you feel like you’re on the edge of giving up, you can lean on the SEALs’ 40 percent rule to remind you that your apparent limits really aren’t.”

So, when subby starts to send off alarms, you don’t need to even acknowledge it, use the Law of Substitution and replace it with an image of a Navy Seal and his team mates swimming 5 miles in the dark or hiking 40 miles in a day to reach rendezvous point alpha where they’ll meet up with a chopper to airlift injury team member. Then imagine the smile of satisfaction on his face knowing he has taught his subby that “I have unlimited potential” and I use it to reach my objective! As any military man knows, be it physical or mental¬†Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance¬†…

Week 14 – I Am The Fire – I Promise To Myself, Me And No One Else

“I Promise To Myself, Me And No One Else”

When I heard this song and this particular lyric line I felt a chill run through me. I am the Fire, I am my own motivation, internal inspiration and drive to achieve. Remember Mark said the corpus callosum (the bridge between the left and right brain) is more fully developed in musicians. If that is the case (and I personally believe it is) then we who are not musicians can learn and benefit from the rhythm, vibrations and the eloquence of the word architecture the embed in their lyrics… how they use it to express their journey and share it with us.

With the help of Lzzy Hale, rock musician and lead singer of the band Halestorm, I’ll walk you through what must have been a parallel universe (more likely, the Universal Mind) and the internal talk I experienced when I first heard the tune and the instructive lyrics. It’s almost like she has been through the Master Key Experience a chronicled the hero’s journey she has experienced.

Yes, this is for my hard rock friends who often don’t even know they are on their own hero’s journey aligned with the Master Key System and the things we are learning in the MKMMA. If you are not into fairly hard rock, feel free to read it as a poem and draw your own inspiration and points to draw power from. So, with that in mind, I’m going to share my internal conversations as I walked through the full lyrics.

I Am The Fire by Lzzy Hale of Halestorm

Am I brave enough? I felt and asked this question of ourselves as we
began our Master Key journey.
Am I strong¬†enough? Mark Januszewski and The Fabulous Daven echoed Haanel’s¬†admonition to¬†Never start anything I
couldn’t finish or see through to¬†the end.
To follow the desire I have had this desire throughout my life to reach
beyond my current circumstances and a
life¬†of “quiet desperation”.
That burns from within My heart has often ached to simply believe, to
have Faith that¬†I can be more than I have been…
To push away my fear Enter the Law of Substitution, the only tool to
help with vanquishing my fears of inadequacy and societally hypnotised weaknesses!
To stand¬†where I’m afraid On the scene comes Og Mandino¬†with Scroll III,
I Persist Until I Succeed.”
I am through with this No more River of Dreams for me! I now know
there is more, I can be more…
Cuz I am more than this I now feel in my heart that I am more, I am
unique and have special gifts to share
with others “I give¬†without expectation of
reciprocity from the channels I enrich, because
I know I am…” stepping into the dynamic
flow of giving and receiving!
I promise to myself And here is the granddaddy of them all,
“I Always Keep My Promise”. With every
commitment we make to ourselves we etch it
into our souls with this phrase as covenant
to complete the tasks to move forward and
accomplish our Plan of Action.
Alone and no one else I am accountable to myself and no one
else as long as we do no harm to their good.
My flame is rising higher The more I study the system, understand and
add the Enthusiasm it generates as fuel
to create more Enthusiasm
, my commitment
and my faith expands exponentially to carry
me forward faster and faster!
I am the fire I, and I alone am the fire. No outside influence
or force will have a lasting effect on me reaching
my goals. I am personally responsible and accountable
to me (SMART goals are what I will use to
measure my progress).
I am burning brighter With each passing day and every repeat of my
DMP and Service cards, I can feel the urgency building.
Roaring like a storm I Always Infuse Enthusiasm into every reading as
the dividends are enormous. Remember the
50 minutes of reading your one-sentence
? I was amazed at the energy it required
and  then subsequently returned over the
next day or two, amazing!
And I am the¬†one I’ve been waiting for I spent much of my life looking for others I admired
to shepherd me toward my goals, no more.
I am a Lion. and I refuse to talk, to walk,
to sleep, with sheep!
I am my own strength, my
own support and I am more than enough
to keep the internal flames alight. I do need a
mastermind to generate perspectives I have never
thought of but, I remain the responsible one.
Screaming like a siren The more elation and gratitude I put into my
Enthusiastic readings, the higher my return
on investment (ROI) to myself and to those in my life.
Alive and burning brighter With all I am learning, life is so much more than
it was before
… brighter, more¬†opportunities and
I am more willing to stretch and reach for my dreams.
I am the fire Again, I am the fire, no one¬†else… my confidence grows.
I’ve been¬†sacrificed Society has trained me well to¬†go along to get along;
the mandate is conformity to mediocrity.
Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick In the Wall”¬†comes
to mind along with¬†Mark’s frequent references to
the Billy Joel classic¬†“River of Dreams”.
My Hearts been cauterized Sadly, over time and through many soul-sucking
experiences, my heart lost much of its will to risk
being hurt and extending my hand to build
relationships. I now recognize this and I use the
Achievement and Gratitude exercises
soften and warm what once was cold and dark.
Hanging on to hope Hope and faith are now restored through
truth and knowledge
of the way, the path to
gaining the cooperation of other people, I now
induce others to serve me. because of my
willingness to serve others.
shackled by¬†the ghost The “reality holograph” of what is real¬†once
kept me from really exploring, from
reaching my unlimited potential.
Of what I once believed My beliefs in these falsehoods are now falling
away as the cocoon of the caterpillar reveals the
butterfly with wings outstretched and yearning to fly.
That I could never be An image of me prior to the Master Key system,
head hung low, plodding along.
Whats right¬†in front of me It’s been there all along, greatness in so many ways
I am the fire Enthusiasm rises in my heart to heights unknown before
I am burning brighter With knowledge and learning comes
and the ability to see what
was invisible before.
Roaring like a storm Like a storm, disruptive, powerful and ever moving
from west to east, the nurturing rains follow
to power the growth that is to come
. “I love
the rain for it cleanses my spirit.’
And I am the¬†one I’ve been waiting for I talk to the Guy in the Glass¬†and recognize
him as the man I have been waiting
for to
be my companion, my accountability
partner throughout my journey.
Screaming like a siren Now my mid-day exercise and reading my
cards again, strength renewed and
Alive and burning brighter I feel so alive, bright enough to light
the way for others
I am the fire Warm, comforting and motivating, the flame of
Thought within is mine to control at will
I don’t¬†believe I’ll fall from grace I turn to the Master¬†System in addition to other ,
I believe it augments my personal faith.
Won’t Let the¬†past decide my fate “Failure, like pain is alien to my life. In the past
I accepted it as I accepted pain.
Now I reject it
and am prepared for wisdom and principles
which guide me out of the shadows…” My past
performance and mistakes are lessons I use to
win, I persist, I win…¬†“I build my¬†castle one
brick at a time for I know that small attempt, repeated,
complete any undertaking“.
(Og Mandino Scroll I & III)
Leave forgiveness in my wake I forgive all the wrongs I have burdened myself
with and leave them all behind trailing me like
the silent wake a boat leaves fading into the distance.
Take the love¬†that I’ve Embraced Again, my man in the mirror repeats daily,
“I love you man!”, like one else can!
I promise to myself, me and no one else I Always Keep My Promise!
I am more¬†than this I am part of a larger whole,¬†“the Father and I
are one
” (The Master Key System¬†by Charles F Haanel)
I am the¬†fire… I am the source of my progress¬†and my
burning desire

Week 12 – I Persist Until I Succeed, I Win!

You Gotta Be Willing To Take The Hits

A commitment to persist is a key habit leading to success writes Og Mandino. Sly Stallone age 69, is a success and he says, “you me or nobody is going to hit as hard as life but, it ain’t about how hard you’re hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward, how much can you take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done!”.

These two men have similar thoughts on views on persistence. Like the young bulls described in the scroll marked III. They were to be scored based on their persistence and how many times they tried again, and again to charge the Picadors.

It has been this week that resolve’s head has been raised. Just as Mark said on our Sunday Mastermind, it has been the renewed Guy in the Glass exercise. Looking yourself in the eye, and in the long view of life, stating that you will not attempt to deceive yourself or others because. So, that combined with daily promises to follow-thru and succeed on delivering my hand-written charter called the DMP.

The above seems a strain to keep up and then… this message in my email; and my “struggles” seems just an excuse!

I’m just completing my post and see an email come from one of my associates from within the Master Key Experience (MKMMA) course. It’s¬†Day Boswell¬†and she has a post entitled¬†Week 12 ‚Äď Tis the Season ‚Ķ of Family. Now I know there are those here in the mastermind on whom Sly Stallone (aka Rocky Balboa) has nothing on them in the way of persistence in the face of life kicking them around a bit!

Just read her post and see how she easily steps, like a matador to one side, of life’s big challenges with poise and a grounded spirit that almost defies comprehension. Family passing, new children coming into the world, pointed emotional conversations with other family, daughter in surgery needing support and yet the thinker, compassionate side shines through as only Rudolph could to light the way for others to follow. Thank you Day for the exemplary life you lead, sharing it with others like myself in the Master Key Mastermind and for increasing the harmony across the fabric of our lives as your boat raises all others in this harbor.
